After looking at the fabric in the daylight and the dim dim light of our den in the evening, I determined that it wasn't too purple or too dark or too light (it's darker than it appears in this photo) or too anything that would cause concern. So, I did it. I bought 32 yards of fabric from Brentwood Interiors....my new favorite fabric store. They had JUST gotten the fabric in and when I excitedly realized it might be THE ONE, they counted all the yards to be sure it had enough (it did!) and put it on hold for me. Wonderful people.
You may be wondering about that strip of pink stuff. It's upholstery tape trim and it was just over $2/yard....which if you don't know, is a FANTASTIC deal. All the other trims I've seen like this have been $8-15/yard...which makes it just to expensive to justify, as I needed about 15 yards. So for only $35ish dollars, I was able to get all this reddish pink trim to put at the bottom of the skirts of the sofas. It's gonna be REAL cute. For some reason, in iPhone photos, it looks much pinker and brighter than it actually is. When the sofas are done, I'll document it properly.
I also bought this last weekend:
A loveseat! At an estate sale! In almost the exact shape of the big sofa! And $63!
It was really exciting, minus the part where I had to confirm with Phil that I could bring....a 6th sofa into our home. Yes, we currently have 6. Yes, I know it's a problem. I'm working on it. He gave me all clear and with the help of my MIL's Durango and a kind kind friend, this baby was loaded up, moved and unloaded into our house. The next morning, I got a wild hair and rearranged the den with the new seating option.
We have a pair of chairs being lovingly given to us by a family member, so I put the patterned chair and the black chair there as place holders. We originally planned to put them in our bedroom, but I'm thinking the chairs might work in here. What do you think? It's not really centered on the TV/ceiling beam. Does that bother you? Both the sofas will be navy with the tape trim at the bottom of the skirts to tie in the colors of the rug.
Here are some other shots of the room layout using the strange Panoramic feature from my phone:
Please ignore the thing on the fireplace....a covering for when our leaky chimmey has water issues, which was hopefully fixed yesterday by Ashbusters.
My dear friend Lindley is a designer and brought me a bunch of samples of to-the-trade fabrics. I've been playing around with them and right now I'm loving these fun fabrics together, which I'm envisioning for beautiful pillows and maybe other upholstered accents.
